School in Hungary - L'école en Hongrie

I haven't written for a while as I was busy with the start of the school year. Here is my impression and my understanding on how it works.

School really starts at 6 or 7 years old before that kids  go to a preschool kindergarden (ovoda) where they have playing activities but they are being prepared to enter primary school in their year but they are not pushed too much to learn their letters etc...

They can stay in the same school until they are 18 years old.

Primary school lasts for 8 years usually but that's where it gets complicated. After 4 or 6 years kids can already change school and to a secondary school.

The secondary school lasts for 4 years usually again depending on when the kid left primary school.

There are 3 kinds of secondary schools:
- Gimnazium ( equivalent to Grammar school or lycée général, they learn 2 foreign languages there)
- Skakgimnazium (another option offering possibility to go to higher education after)
- Szakkozepiskola ( more technical school for kids with learning issues)

At the end of high school they sit for the Matura exam / Erettsegi, the equivalent of A-Level or Baccalauréat.

It is still not too clear to me and still confusing. I guess I will understand better after a few years.

Je n'ai pas écris depuis longtemps car j'étais occupée par la rentrée des classes. Voilà mes premières impressions et ce que je comprends ou pas du système.

L'école commence réellement à 6-7 ans avant les enfants vont en garderie où ils passent leur temps à jouer. La dernière année on les prépare à l'entrée à l'école mais sans les pousser trop à apprendre les lettres …

Ils peuvent rester dans la même école jusqu'à 18 ans.

L'école primaire dure 8 ans en général mais c'est là que ça devient compliqué. Après 4 ou 6 ans les enfants peuvent déjà aller au collège/lycée.

Il y a 3 types d'écoles secondaires:
- Gimnasium: l'équivalent du lycée général où les élèves apprennent 2 langues étrangères)
- Skagimnasium: une autre option possible pour ensuite entrer en études supérieures.
- Szakkozepiskola: école plus technique pour les enfants en difficultés scolaires ou ayant des résultats plus faibles.

A la fin du lycée les élèves passent le Matura / Erretsegi, l'équivalent du baccalauréat..

Ce système n'est toujours pas très clair pour moi . Je pense qu'il va me falloir quelques années pour le comprendre.
